Admin

Living in a hostel, you tend to meet a variety of people from different backgrounds. Not just that, but people with a host of different personalities! From a fun-loving party go-er to a shy bookworm. You get them all! Let’s take a look at the 10 different types of roommates you are likely to meet while living the hostel life.

  • The Party Goer

It’s 10 PM, people are winding down for the night. But not the party goer! This person is just getting ready to attend 3 parties in a row. Hangover? What’s that? This roommate will come in at 6 AM and be ready for that 9 AM lecture with no problem!

  1. The Bookworm

You will always find this type of person in hostels in Pune carrying a book, or two, around with them. Their favourite past-time is curling up on the couch with a good book. They tend to speed through novels like it’s nothing!

  1. The Clean Bean

Everyone has watched Friends. Remember Monica? That’s this roommate! Everything needs to be neat and tidy. Cleanliness is a top priority. Your apartment will be the cleanest in the entire hostel and that is something you love!

  1. The Nagger

Nag Nag Nag. This type of roommate will forever be in your face nagging you. College work, clean the house, pick up groceries. All you want to do is give them a swift lecture so the nagging stops! You will encounter a few of these people sometimes in girls hostel Pune or boys hostel Pune.

  1. The Parent

Missing your parents? No worries! This roommate you will find in girls hostel in Mumbai or even hostels in Pune. They embody either your mom or dad and are ready to take care of you!

  1. The Chef

Having this type of roommate is hitting the jackpot. They love cooking and love to feed people! Imagine never having to worry about your meals. What a blessing!

  1. The Outdoors Person

Whether you are in a boys hostel Pune or a girls hostel Pune, you will encounter this type of roommate. What the best part is, you have someone to drag your lazy butt off the couch and get some fresh air!

  1. The Sporty One

Kind of like the outdoors person but more into sports. You will always find sports items like soccer shoes or badminton rackets lying around. The plus? You will always have a partner to join you when you feel like playing fun sports outdoors!

  1. The Study Buddy

Another jackpot! This type of roommate will make sure you pass every course in college. They will help you study and help you with anything related to education. Determined and smart!

  1. The Chiller

Studies? Work? Cleaning? It’s chill! This type of roommate is the most chill one you will find. They are up for anything and aren’t fussy with things. Having this roommate is like having a cat that doesn’t care what is going on around them.

College life isn’t complete without doing fun and crazy things! This is the perfect opportunity to take advantage of your young age and experience different opportunities. Everyone has a bucket list, whether you write it down or have it in mind. We saved you the trouble by coming up with a bucket list of 10 must-do things in college!

  • Make ALL The Friends

It’s not just about making friends. Meet new people! Experience their different cultures. Hang out together. Make connections. Who knows? The connections you make in college may come in great use later on in life. Expand your social circle.

  1. Host A Party

We don’t mean throwing a party with friends. We mean HOSTING a party! Pick a theme and go wild! From the food to the beverages, make this a night that you and your friends will never forget. Hostels in Pune love throwing gatherings so why not throw your own!

  1. Attend A Music Festival

There is nothing better than getting dressed up and attending a music festival. The vibes! The food! The music! It’s an event that you can go to alone (and make friends) or with your group of friends. Either way, you’re bound to have an amazing time. Hostels in Pune and girls hostel in Pune have a lot of people who would love to join you for a festival.

  1. Go For A Trek

It’s time to explore the great outdoors! Grab your friends and get your butt off the couch. Head on over to your nearest hill and start trekking. Whether it is a boys hostel Pune or girls hostel in Mumbai, there are plenty of outdoor places you can explore and trek.

  1. Dye Your Hair A Crazy Colour

We don’t mean brown or light blonde. Go crazy! Dye your hair colours like blue, green, red, pink. Why not all? Sport a crown of rainbow colours and you are sure to turn heads. Dazzle the college kids and make them wish they had guts to colour their hair like you.

  1. Pull An All Nighter

Whether it is a girls hostel Pune or boys hostel Pune, the college kids have a knack for staying up at night studying. But why not trying pulling an all-nighter just for fun? Watch movies, eat snacks, do it with your friends so you have fun company!

  1. Intern Somewhere

Okay, we admit, this isn’t as fun as the others on the list but it will surely benefit you when you finish studying and are searching for jobs! Try interning at places that relate to your field. Having this experience will be greatly beneficially for you.

  1. Skip Class

Don’t make this a habit or anything! When you are living in hostels in Pune, you deserve a break. A day off! Skip one of your most hectic classes and spend the day relaxing instead.

  1. Road Trip!

Hectic week? Need a weekend plan? Want to get away from the girls hostel in Mumbai, out of the city and explore? Road trip! Grab your gang, pack some food, and head out somewhere! It could be an hour away or 4, doesn’t matter. As long as you are having fun.

  1. Write Letters

Before leaving college, why not write to your friends and teachers handwritten letters? It is personal and makes a wonderful goodbye gift.

Why living at Tribe is better than living in an apartment?

7 September 2020

Admin

You spend a lot of time with the people you live with. This is supposed to be a safe place. That’s why you need to be smart about deciding where you are going to live for the next few years.

Here are a few pointers on why we think choosing to live in Tribe is a very wise option. Now we are not saying that Tribe is the only way to go but you can decide for yourself. Go ahead, find out why we think it’s the best.

Ease of living

As if securing a college admission wasn’t stressful enough, you don’t need the hassle of dealing with landlords and brokers.

Tribe has all their information on their website and getting a room is just a few clicks away. It’s that simple. Plus you are assured of getting a comfortable and a beautifully furnished room.

When you shift out of home for the first time, you seek independence. But independence comes with responsibility. Let’s not forget about all the daily chores you need to do from cleaning the house to washing your clothes to doing the vessels to .. well it’s tiring to just list them out. And who has the time to make sure the help comes regularly when you are too busy having fun?

Tribe understands this and has everything in place so you can just concentrate on your assignments or just have fun. There is also a happiness manager for any other difficulties you may face.

Food

Managing your food isn’t so easy in an apartment. From buying groceries to cooking and cleaning your space after cooking takes much of your time. Even ordering-in takes at least half an hour. Why go through all this when you can just go downstairs to Café Mamaliga and get hot and tasty food. There is also a hot plate available in the breakout area to make quick meals and the cafe is open 24/7. Yes, you read that right. Café Mamaliga will satisfy those midnight cravings too. Doesn’t that sound amazing?

Because let’s face it, you are not going to have a Monica Geller across the hall to feed you.

Communal living

Your college life is where you make the most number of friends. Tribe is a community where you can meet and interact with so many new people. And it’s a community that stands with you through everything including your happy and sad times. Or during those times when you just need a break from your studies. This is a community where you will be living with more than just 2-3 roommates but that doesn’t mean you won’t have your privacy. Just a few steps outside your door and you can find almost everything you need, from a shirt for a date to a cute dress for a night out or even an ear when you want to grumble about anything and everything under the sun.

No Nosy Neighbours

Why deal with those nosy uncles and gossiping aunties who think they have the right to know every single detail of your life when you can live with a bunch of cool people.

At Tribe, you don’t have a curfew and nobody is going to interfere with your vibe. You have all the freedom of an apartment minus all the nosiness. It strikes the perfect balance between security and comfort.

Extra Facilities

Tribe provides bus service to your college at a small fee so you don’t have the inconvenience of finding transport every day. This way you can save on travelling expenses and instead spend it on your next night out.

Tribe has a fitness and sports centre to work out, play sports, and engage in a recreational sporting activity together with their community. You can borrow over 20 board games from the reception to play with your friends. You can also borrow a projector to watch movies or matches. With easily accessible food, you now have all the components to throw a pajama party.

Now you won’t get all this in an apartment, will you?

If you think Tribe is just another hostel, think again. Tribe is an experience.

5 easy recipes to satisfy your midnight cravings

7 September 2020

Admin

Hostel life all about those midnight adventures with your friends, be it a movie night, game night or just a chill night-in with your buddies after a long day or those nights where you are trying to cramp in months of the syllabus on the night before your exam. And the food is a major part of these adventures. Here are a few super easy and quick recipes to kick start your adventure.

It is going to be even easier and convenient as Café Mamaliga at Tribe Stays is open 24/7 and has all the basic equipment to fix your own snacks. Now isn’t Tribe one of the best hostels in Pune?

Chilly Cheese Toast

Classic street food that is very easy to make. The main ingredients you need are bread, grated cheese and green chilly. You can add butter, oregano, chilli flakes and garlic for extra taste. Now, these ingredients are totally substitutable and you can use anything else that is available to you.

Butter your bread and add all your ingredients on the bread before adding grated cheese. Now just pop it into the oven for 4-5 minutes. You can have it with some ketchup or some mustard sauce.

If you don’t have an oven, you can also toast it on a flat pan. Now, this is not an issue as Café Mamaliga has everything available for a quick snack. Chilly cheese toast is easy, quick, delicious and is sure to satisfy those hunger pangs.

Smoked Paprika Potato Chips

We all love fried food which is delicious but very unhealthy for our bodies. The biggest culprit of fried snacks is potato chips. Now the packaged potato chips that you get in your supermarkets are convenient and tasty but they are loaded with fatty oils, artificial flavouring and empty calories. Here is a recipe that makes sure you aren’t consuming empty calories but that will also satisfy your cravings for potato chips. Now you will have to take a little more effort than just buying packaged potato chips but your body will thank you in the long run.

A few ingredients you need are potatoes, olive oil, paprika, salt and pepper.

  1.  Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2.  Peel the potato and slice as thinly and uniformly as possible.
  3. Soak the potato slices for at least 5 minutes in cold water.
  4. Drain and pat dry, then toss in a bowl with the olive oil, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Lay the potatoes out on an oiled baking sheet.
  6.  Bake until the potatoes are golden brown and crunchy, about 30 minutes.

These chips are as delicious if not more, thanks to the fresh potato flavour and the smoky paprika flavour. So the next time you are on your groceries run, you know what not to include.

Deep-Fried Oreos

Oreos are an all-time favourite for almost everybody. It is almost guaranteed and a constant item on your groceries list. Each person has a way or a favourite combination of eating these cookies. There is a way to jazz it up a little.

You will need pancake batter, an egg, milk and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil.

  1. Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Whisk together the egg, milk, and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a bowl until smooth. Stir in the pancake mix until no dry lumps remain.
  3.  Dip the cookies into the batter one at a time, and carefully place into the hot frying oil. Cook until the cookies are golden-brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate before serving.

Next time you are having a movie night with your friends, impress them with these easy deep- fried Oreos.

Dark Chocolate Dipped Bananas

Mid-night sweet cravings are very real. It could be because you are actually hungry or stressed or it could be just out of habit. Why not make these cravings a little healthier by throwing in a fruit?

To make dark chocolate-dipped bananas,

  1. Peel, then cut each banana in half crosswise (or into tiny cubes) and insert a craft stick (or a toothpick) into each half. Place on a tray and put in the freezer until frozen, about 3 hours.
  2. Melt the chocolate (you can also use milk or white chocolate, whichever is convenient) in the top of a double boiler over slightly simmering water, over the lowest possible heat, stirring frequently.
  3. Dip each frozen banana into the chocolate, till it is coated completely.
  4. Now you can add peanuts or any nuts of your choice. Simply roll the coated bananas on the nuts. You can also add coconut shavings.
  5. Serve immediately or wrap individually in plastic wrap or waxed paper and freeze for up to 2 weeks.

If you are not a big fan of bananas, you can substitute it with strawberries or any fruit of your choice and convenience.

Maggi

Maggi is almost synonymous to student life and it is the go-to food in all situations, we just had to include it in the list. Each of us has our preferences while making Maggi, watery or dry, with or without ketchup etc. Now I am sure most of us have figured out ways to spice it up, here are a few suggestions,

  •   Cheese and egg Maggi

Add some grated cheese and some scrambled eggs or omelette to your Maggi.

  • Deep-Fried Maggi

Cook Maggi the way you prefer it ( the drier the better and easier) and carefully deep fry it in the pan of vegetable oil you set aside to boil. Sprinkle chaat masala, or whatever else that you prefer and you’ve got the perfect rainy day snack.

  •  Maggi Sandwich

Cook your Maggi slightly drier than usual to avoid making the bread soggy. Whip your favourite sandwich ingredients out and throw in the freshly made Maggi.

  •  Meat Maggi

You can add whatever meat you like, be it sausages, pepperoni or leftover fried chicken. Cook your meat to your liking, slightly prior to adding the Maggi. Voila!

10 things you experience when you move out of your home for the first time

29 July 2020

Admin

Moving out of your home can be scary and exciting at the same time. You are anxious about surviving on your own but you are also pumped up to experience this new independence.

1)      You’ll go through a rollercoaster of emotions

You will feel homesick and lost in the beginning but you are also excited for this new adventure. Isn’t this what you have been waiting for? Pushing down a feeling of nostalgia and your parents warmth, you are ready to take on the world.

2)      Freedom is a sweet, sweet thing

After being sheltered and fussed around at home, you will have to start taking your own decisions, big or small. No more depending on your family. It’s not going to be pleasant all throughout but you will learn to fight through the odds, be resilient and to just keep going. You will become self- reliant.

3)      Learning to get along with all and any

You are in a completely new place and you will want to get to know more people, so you end up socializing more than you normally would. Introverts become extroverts, extroverts start to enjoy their own company and people just accept each other for who they are – that’s what hostel life teaches you – to acknowledge and appreciate each other’s individuality and be able to adapt to the diversity. Your people skills are truly honed!

4)      “Yes, I definitely need three jars of Nutella and five packets of potato chips”

Grocery shopping for yourself is the best.

5)      You are broke… End of every month!

Managing your money is another very important life skill you learn when you live on your own. You have all these plans of saving up. But savings? What savings? Grocery, shopping, eating out, parties.. How can one possibly save?

6)      Maggi will become your best friend

You will learn to survive on maggi for days. Maggi will get you through happy days and sad days.

7)      The nights will no longer be for sleeping

Your sleep cycle will turn upside down. Night time is for gossip and jamming sessions. You will master the art of attending classes after 3 hours of sleep.

8)      You won’t need reasons to party or to go out.

There will be multiple jam sessions. There will be major dance sessions. Why? Because you can!

9)      Meticulous planning and execution of birthday surprises

Birthdays are a huge part of hostel life. The meticulous planning and sneaking around so your friend doesn’t find out, and finally seeing your friend laughing and having the time of their life leaves your heart full and happy.

10)   Every phone call you have with your mom will overwhelm you with homesickness.

Every time you talk to your mom, you have a longing in your heart. You realise living at home was so good and so cheap. But you turn around and see your goofy friends and it becomes alright. You have found a new home.
