How to tackle loneliness when you’re away from home?

26 September 2019

Admin

Homesickness isn’t certainly a “sickness”, it is a feeling of deprivation you get when away from your loved ones, your nest, your comfort zone. Even if this word has a negative undertone, it is more normal than you think it to be.

We aren’t born with boxing our emotions or compartmentalizing how we feel, when we feel, and that’s completely okay. It’s your quotient and hence your take. But in all this what stands true is the commonality of it. You feel it, I feel it, We all feel it from time to time. Such momentary lapse isn’t a sign of weakness. In fact, it is the opposite. In it’s truism it shows that you have something valuable back home to hold onto. Something authentic that’s worth reminiscing.

However, one cannot shun the fact that the feeling comes with an essence of unease and discomfort and such low days definitely make you feel drained out, emotionally and mentally. Amidst this, the most humane thing to do is hold onto whatever feels real to you then and there. Basically keep you grounded.

Here you are in luck. Living at Tribe, especially being amidst individuals from your own age group aka “Gen Z” andmost of them being your batch mates itself, is the ultimate key to lock loneliness once and for all. Whether it’s your peers, roommates or other residents, they are the catalyst to fight the waves of homesickness. All the more, the reason I’ve highlighted your sheer luck is because Tribe in itself creates an environment that effortlessly echoes this and enables you to surface out of your cocoon. Whether it’s through providing hotspots such as the breakout area or by curating weekender community activities such as Tribe’s football tournament, they ensure socialisation at its best.

Even though Tribe trains you to live for the here and now, it certainly does not just focus on this tunnel vision. Instead, it sculpts you to challenge yourself on a regular basis by creating an environment of all sorts. In it’s own way, it constantly ensures that settling isn’t an option for you. And thus, they dispose an array of activities, from Yoga and Zumba, to dance and singing for you to find your own fit. Your mark, your soul sense!

From this we’ve figured that tackling loneliness isn’t a one-person job and hence, we’ll back you up! We also have a happiness manager in place to ensure that your smile always stays intact. Alongside this we have floor representatives in check, to extend their hand when in doubt or fear.

However, despite this if things escalate, we have the management team to fill in those blocks. Here in Tribe we have an open door mantra. That glass door is as transparent as your communication with us should be.

Why is Hostel living a “once in a lifetime” opportunity?

21 August 2019

Admin

When you think “Hostel” what clouds next is “Taare Zameen Par”, and Ishaan Awasthi’s nightmare come to reality. However there is a silver lining to this!

From “Hey, can I borrow your charger” to “I’m wearing your dress for tonight”, somewhere in-between hostel mates become family”, and here is the proof!

1.) You become Independent!

If ever discerned, the comfort of home life is equivalent to putting your growth on autopilot which nonetheless impedes your being. However this “standby” mode is fast loosing ground. Getting things served in a platter  and being sheltered in a cocoon has become old school now! If one really wants to take a leap, and be ahead in the rat race, stretching yourself out of the ordinary is indeed a necessity. Hostel living thus helps you to become your own person!

2.) You become more people oriented!

The deep rooted art of selflessness is indeed a rare sight, however hostel life teaches you how to master this art effortlessly. “Sharing and caring” becomes your innate nature and one learns to forego minor inconveniences to rather focus on the bigger picture.

Hostel living endures a different kind of homesick altogether! “A middle of the road homesick”, whereby leaving your house is frightening, but leaving your “tribe” is even more nerve racking (Indeed a Home away from Home!).

3.) You learn how to be economically sensible!

Hostel life lends a hand to infuse noteworthy life lessons such as “How to stretch a Rupee”. Budget-constrained life may not seem fancy-schmancy, but it will guide you to understand the tips and tricks of making the most out of mere things.

4.) You learn to appreciate the HERE and NOW! (YOLO)

Hostel life backs you to help capitalize your “in the moment” experiences. You learn to live life less in your headspace and more out there! It helps you attain “blur your thought bubbles and pop back to reality” experiences.

It also helps imbibe essence of authenticity and rawness as we learn to value things that otherwise were aspects of our life that didn’t even make us blink twice. Those taken-for-granted moments become such that we are now utterly grateful for and truly appreciate.

5.) Late night studies, and hang outs!

Imagine having your favourite person beside you 24×7, from dusk till dawn! Your partner in crime, and your support for burning the midnight oil during exams! Besides, we’ve all heard the saying “Best are the talks post 3am”, and hostel life curates this perfect environment at your disposal!

6.) Celebrations, Celebrations, Celebrations!

One sheer truth about hostlers is that they don’t need a reason to celebrate! From birthday’s to low days, everyday is a celebration for them! Such wave of new zeal and excitement creates a sense of belonging and togetherness, that helps maintain close knit bonds.

What is a break out area and what do students do there?

21 August 2019

Admin

We as students have a lot in our plate, from college clubs to assignments, from exams to exhibitions, the workload without a doubt gets excruciating after a point. Moreover, we all need a quick gateway to rejuvenate ourselves in order to put up our best front.

Tribe’s Break Out Area is just what the doctor ordered! Its indeed a key to surrender all your worries and inhibitions, to put aside all those mental blocks that’s hindering your growth. A social spotlight that provides comfort, a sense of belonging and experiences worth reminiscing.

The moments lived here echoes deeply within every tribe member, whether it’s watching the world cup together, and piping the adrenaline rush or hooting in excitement every time our dream team gave us one more reason to believe. Every tribe troop was in this together, experiencing the rollercoaster of emotions, every highs and lows and disappointments that came along the way. For others it was just a matter of 50 overs, but for us these 50 overs had “I’ve got your back” written all over it.

In today’s world such “community feels” or “sense of togetherness” is fading away, however we in tribe believe that these are in-fact the building blocks for what’s in store ahead. Communication is an integral part of our being, it moulds our sense of self, and tribe extends itself to train you exactly for that by providing such hotspots.

It’s indeed the sheer truth that these four walls of the zone have seen everything, from tears to mere laughter, all these emotions are deeply engraved in what tribe stands for.

From “Me-time” to “We-time”, the zone offers everything, a place to blow off some steam as well as to introspect. This coupled with a smart TV that’s provided has made it all effortless, one can easily use apps like Netflix, Amazon prime, and call it a Movie Night!

On the other hand, especially for book lovers, there is a secret spot under the trees that’s covered with fairy lights, and it also allows you to stargaze at night.

Apart from this, tribe offers myriad board games like monopoly, UNO, Taboo, snakes and ladder etc., that can be played in the breakout area, and for those more outdoorsy tribe still got you covered! The zone also provides foosball, Table Tennis and carom that can be played at anytime of the day or night! (Thanks to the 24×7 Mamaliga cafe)

To put it otherwise, the breakout area is the definite ice breaker in starting your tribe cum life journey!

Until then, Be silly. Be honest. Be kind!

Our late night on site cafe Mamaliga has some great food – and students have agreed!

21 August 2019

When you think “hostel”, what echoes next is mediocre dishing. However tribe takes an oath to break such stereotypes, and cater to your gastronomy needs with a pinch of yum. It takes a road that strikes a balance between providing humble comfort food and soul food aka “Ghar ka khana”.

We believe that there is no dead end when its a question of taste buds, rather we keep your feet tapping with myriad plating options ranging from vegetarian to non-vegetarian dishes.

Tribe’s Mamaliga cafe offers local and international culinary experiences that are worth drooling for. From cheat meals to stay fit meals we’ve got you covered!

Here’s what our troop has to say:

Munmun Kumar:- I’ve been staying in a hostel since 6th grade, however the quality of the food served was always abysmal, and therefore Swiggy and Zomato became my saviours. I hardly remember eating the mess food, or moreover struggling to cope with it. Tribe has truly changed my perspective about how hostel food can be. Apart from healthy options served they ensure that each resident is dished a hot plate with a dessert on top!

Mannat Trehan:- Being an outstation student and a foodie, my tummy demands to explore the best of Pune’s culinary fabric. Tribe ensures that such is provided by offering local dishes like Misal Pav, Thalipeeth , and Pithla Bhakri to say the least.

Abhash Maitra:- Given my fitness regime, I’m very particular as to what I consume. However tribe promises to ensure that my routine is intact by providing a balance diet. My mornings too are sorted , as they spoon out oats, milk, eggs, and seasonal fruit juices.

How to work around a budget when staying at Tribe?

21 August 2019

Admin

For many, student life is synonym with “a hole in the wallet”, and being “broke” has become our middle name. However, don’t let the month end money crunch stop you from living your best possible life!

Here are few tips and tricks especially for those working around a strict budget!

Most residents living here, share colleges, classes, tuitions and thus its easier to pool ride services. Apart from that, Tribe offers economy-size electric bikes that can be rented for every occasion.

A shout out to every spendthrift out there! Imagine buying everything you desire in prices that will make your jaw-drop! More so Pune offers its best in street shopping, locales like Fergusson College Road, and Fashion Street in Camp delivers everything from basics to luxury. Alongside this, Pune’s heart resides in Koregaon Park, which too offers price cuts in the name of boutiques.

Moreover, Tribe being situated in a prime location has enabled individuals to commute from one place to another effortlessly. One stop destinations like Phoenix Marketcity is just walking distance away. Such A to Z umbrella malls especially light up during the weekends with pocket friendly stalls and discounted deals.

Alongside this, transportation is certainly one aspect that’s heavily billed when it comes to budgeting. Thus for smart save options one can easily use applications like “Dunzo” that offers ideal pick-up and drop services. Moreover the hassle of tip-toeing through student life is cumbersome and there isn’t enough “me-time” for yourself, let alone enough time to shop for groceries, pick-up supplies, grab food and wade through traffic all at once. Hence the application not only saves time-effort but it’s especially serviced to getting things done in an unknown city. You as an individual can provide them with a “To do list” and they will get the work done in no time with a mere delivery charge of 15-30 Rupees. This without a doubt sounds like a win-win to me!

Furthermore, being a “Foodie” is the flesh and blood of a college student, exploring local and international gastronomy of undiscovered places runs through young veins. However a treat to your taste buds might mean a bullet for your wallet. Thus to save you from yourself, there are street-smart bargains via “Zomato Gold”, which offers either 1+1 on drinks, or 1+1 on food. Selected few restaurants strike a deal for 2+2 either on food or drinks as well. Other offer providers like “Dine out” application goes beyond the ordinary and grants 50% on the whole bill for partnered restaurants.

However one should discern that working around a budget is like constructive criticism. It doesn’t mean that you have to walk around eggshells to cherish your youth, it simply follows the anthem “spend clever to experience better”.

Student Accommodation in India is the next big thing in the real estate industry. Here’s why?

7 June 2019

Admin

Recently, the US state of California wrote laws into place in order to encourage co-living spaces as part of an ecosystem shared with co-working spaces. Closer home, in India too, big things are happening. As people move further and further away from traditional forms of housing, co-living spaces and communal spaces are gaining popularity, and how! Funding has peaked, and with that funding have come newer, more modern, even more updated communal living spaces than before. Gone are the old, stodgy, traditional one-roomed hostels with a reputation for poor food, uncomfortable conditions, and regressive rules. Today, students pursuing an education can enjoy the independence of living alone while still being able to rely on a community behind them. With more students than ever before, India’s student accommodation industry is really taking off, and how!

Today, the co-living industry – particularly with regard to co-living spaces, is a $12 billion opportunity, the Business Standard reports. The Indian student population is growing faster than ever, but the industry of quality accommodation is decidedly under-occupied. As we move away from traditional paying-guest accommodations that numerous students and working professionals choose, or in traditional hostels, where students are often packed like sardines, the supply of quality accommodation is still low – making it a great market for entrepreneurs – and a great industry that is only going to grow even further in coming years.

The idea, today, of what is expected from a hostel, has changed. No longer is it just a place for students to sleep, study and do not much else. Today, student accommodation is beyond just the physical needs of a roof over one’s head and a bed to sleep in: it is about having a supportive, strong community, both in terms of residence and in terms of peers. Today, people are looking more and more at the implications

Student housing can be a next-generation asset

Journalist and writer Kalpesh Kinariwala from Gulf News touches upon the growing demand for purpose built student accommodation for the rising number of students in UAE. The UAE Government has focused its attention towards developing and urban ecosystem centered around educational institutions and underlines the importance accesses to of good quality safe and affordable accommodation for the students.

As of 2017, the total enrollment in higher education by Indians was at a high 28.56 million, and the number has grown since. There is thus a burgeoning need for student accommodation, and that gap in the industry is what Tribe – with its India-wide coverage, fills! With accommodation not just in quantities but qualities, Tribe marries the concept of modern living with a sense f community, equitable pricing with a system that works for parents and students alike.

But it is not just within the industry; consumer awareness on the student accommodation industry has burgeoned too, with more and more parents of students – and students themselves – aware of the superior facilities now available to students, and the growing student body in a position to utilise those facilities

In an industry growing and expanding rapidly, both horizontally and vertically, we at Tribe fulfill the need of the hour: new, updated student accommodation that is no longer stuck in the past, but moving rapidly towards the future.

Why is it better to live at a modern hostel like Tribe than living at a flat?

7 June 2019

Admin

It’s a familiar, time-tested story: you’ve received a letter of admission to your dream college, and you’ve got everything ready to go: except one thing: where will you stay? And thus begins your search for a place to stay for at least the next year.

One of two likely scenarios then presents itself: you may be the one looking for a flat to rent, following which you search for flatmates, or you may choose to look for people who are already seek.

Today, Facebook is the most popular platform for these referrals. Often, those looking to find flatmates will post on internal forums reserved for institutions, or groups related to flats and flatmates in order to find people to rent a flat with.

Here’s why that is not a good idea anymore.

Often, there are big caveats to finding flatmates online. Unless you have mutual friends with your future flatmate(s), the odds are that you don’t know what their living habits are like. If you’re the kind of person who prefers to keep things tidy and in order all the time, you may not be in for a pleasant surprise if your roommate is the opposite.

You will end up spending a significant amount of your time with the people you live with, and this can present a number of issues if your lifestyles don’t gel with each other. But while friends can be made, and lifestyles worked around, there are a few non-negotiables that come with renting a flat.

Sometimes, renters luck out with good landlords. Often, however, this is not the case. Landlords are often restrictive and may not respect privacy. Repairs that need to be made in the home, although they should be brought to the attention of a landlord, may not always be dealt with timely. In addition to this, the logistics of household repairs are often both time-consuming and expensive, two things of significant value to a student. When you are already dealing with an intensive course of study, searching for a repairman for a leaky faucet or a lack of water is the last thing on your mind.

Bills, too, will pile up separately living in a rented flat, and bring with them the added responsibility of tracking and paying them. The equal sharing of those costs may also bring in even further issues that could complicate the living situation. In shared accommodation, the cost of utilities is already built into your cost of living: so you don’t need to worry about surprise bills and additional costs coming out of nowhere, because everything is already taken care of!

Chores, too, can pile up. While renting with flatmates brings a degree of independence, what it also brings is all the tasks that you could once take for granted now being contingent entirely on yourself. Cleaning, daily chores, maintenance and upkeep are things you cannot take for granted when renting: but in student accommodation, that, too, is staggered into your overall costs. It brings to you all the independence and the joy of living with friends, without the burden of small things that could snowball and divert your time and attention.

Shared student accommodation brings with it the added benefit of those of a similar cohort and age group to you, living on the same ____. With a large group of students, you are more likely to find friends with whom you can share a wavelength, and who become part of your social circle.
