Why hostel friends always last longer than any other friends?

18 October 2021

Admin

Your hostel friends always last longer than any other friends. Here’s why.

When you move out of home, it can be difficult to adjust to completely new surroundings. The hardest part can be having no one to share things with.  Here’s where you have your initial connection with your hostel friends. They are also in almost the exact situation. You become friends by bringing comfort to one another. You slowly start creating a bond and they become your family you come home to. Whether it’s a good day or a bad day, you know they are always there for you when you get back.

A moment of joy can be hard to rejoice about if you don’t have anyone to share it with. Similarly, if you are feeling down in the dumps about something it can get rather lonely. You end up celebrating all the little & big things in life with them.

You get accustomed to living together and looking after each other. You might not have the same major or be studying the same subjects, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t help each other out while sharing a room. If you’re writing an essay, your roommate can help you out by proofreading it. Working on a big project? Your roomie might just be your new go-to for bouncing ideas off one another. Two minds are better than one, right?

This could go beyond to even having a work out buddy. Now how long you will actually keep up your resolutions is up to you but it’s always fun to have another person do it with you.

Your hostel friends have seen you in all your phases and moods. They know when you want to talk and when you just want to be left alone. You know exactly what food comforts them. Living together can lead to a lot of disagreements but you always end up making up. And know what irks the other person. They know you in & out – all your weird habits & your guilty pleasures. And still love you for you.

Good things come to those who wait.
Great things come to those who don't!

Themes of tribe – what makes tribe special?

16 October 2021

Admin

Every year there are hundreds of students travelling across cities to pursue their passion and dream jobs. It is a first of many firsts and like all new beginnings this one comes with its own set of challenges. We saw a need for comfortable student hostels and co living spaces and created Tribe.

Tribe  started small, like all crazy ideas this one too took its first breath on a tiny piece of paper way back in 2017. Since then it has seeked tremendous recognition across the country as well as internationally.

Here’s what makes Tribe stand out,

1. Design of tribe- getting into the details:

Each tribe space has been intricately designed keeping students at its core. Right from having breakout areas and activity lounge areas to promote a culture of building networks and forming new connections to having specific themes such as mediterranean theme at our mumbai property or a pop culture theme for our pune property, each of our stays have been designed to keep your mind flowing with creativity and innovation.

We have intentionally used quality furniture and created interiors to make you experience the luxury of being a student. Yes we believe you are the future and you deserve no less than the best.

2. The Experience is what matters:

We’ve all heard ‘there’s no life like college life’ and if it’s true, might as well live it the best way possible right? At tribe we have put hours of thought into making tribe the best living experience for students, by embracing a co-ed stay, one that believes we grow from each other constantly. While we have a handful of rules to abide by, we promise most of them are about being ‘silly, honest and kind!’ and to keep worries at bay, we have recruited professional staff to look after you and make you feel at home at all times.

3. Why Tribe and not an apartment?

While the thought of living in hostels may not necessarily excite you for you fear being under constant watch, we at tribe believe in individual journey and development and so we let you be! Once you join us, you are a part of our ‘tribe’ and we surely know how to keep our tribe safe and healthy at all times. We provide mouthwatering food so you don’t miss your mom much and also keep ourselves updated with any of your night outs so you don’t miss your sibling much! It’s a family you will hold close, for years to come.

Let’s give you a memorable college living experience shall we? Reach out to us for any queries and we will get back to you instantly or even better, you may come pay us a visit soon! Trust us, we are a vibe you don’t want to miss out on!

Get in line – 5 organisation hacks for every student that will make your hostel life super smooth!

15 October 2021

Admin

In India, there’s a huge population of students who opt for living in hostels or shared co-living spaces not only because it is a cost effective alternative but also because it’s an experience that fosters personal growth and development. While living in shared spaces can be filled with friends and laughter, it can also get messy quite literally! Here are 5 organisation hacks we think could help you get the best of hostel life,

  1. Essentials tray:

More often than not, you will find yourself running late for morning lectures, piled up with assignments or catching up on your beauty sleep after a late night’s party. Either way, it’s a task to find things of need at the nth minute and it’s much harder to get yourself to clean your desk everyday, running around to find a simple pen and paper!

What’s easier is to maintain an essentials tray on your desk with separate sections of pens, important cards and coupons, post it or even candies!

  1. Clothes rack for easy drying:

One of the most common concerns about living in hostels is undoubtedly doing your own laundry! And if in Mumbai/pune the rains will have you drenched in no time and the last thing you want is your clothes spread all around your room, not only making it cluttered and suffocating but also filling up the room with moisture! The best way to perhaps tackle this problem is to invest in a vertical clothes rack that can quickly dry up your clothes in one corner of the room, always leaving space for your guests!

  1. Colour coding – notes and books

Okay, hear us out loud and clear, this one is a lifesaver! Scientifically proven, colour coding helps in memory retention of study material but what’s more, it is perhaps the easiest way to keep your course work organised and easily differentiated when on a time crunch! Either you could buy separate colour folders for all of your modules or you could simply segregate one ring binder with colour sheets after every module! We swear by those pretty pastel highlighters and ring binders! In fact, if you have multiple keys, you could color code them as well using nailpaints, so getting the wrong key is never an issue.

  1. Save up closet space

Another concern living in shared spaces is the lack of closet space and well, you got to lose some, to gain some right? No matter how light you travel or keep a minimalist closet, there comes a weekend sale and one purchase leads to another. While you must’ve heard of the folding hack or rolling your clothes instead of folding them to save space, here we have another quick tip for you that could work wonders! Use the tabs of can tops from your old cans and attach them onto your hangers to hang twice the clothes without leaving much to roll and fold!

  1. Use post its – Maintain a to do list

This is more a piece of advice than a hack, but hey keep a track of everything you have to do for the week in one place. As much as a cluttered room can get to you and become a hurdle in your day to day productivity, a cluttered mind could do much worse. It’s always better to keep a tiny journal handy, to have a track of things and events coming up!

Hostel life as they say is one of a kind and does not come back and we at tribe only want to give you memories for a lifetime, to look back on and cherish. Checkout our living spaces to find your perfect college stay!

5 ways to keep yourself motivated and happy in a hostel

14 October 2021

Admin

Adjusting to a new environment can never be easy. We leave the comforts and warmth of home and that can leave us homesick. In addition to this, you will have social and academic pressures. However, hostel life is one of the most memorable experiences one can have.

Here are 5 ways to keep yourself motivated and happy in a hostel.

Bring home comforts to your new room

To keep yourself from feeling too homesick, bring your favourite soft toy or a quilt from home or whatever gives you comfort. These can give you the warmth of home and can cheer you up.

This is particularly important if you are shifting for the first time, as home comforts can massively help with feelings of homesickness while travelling.

Explore your new surroundings

Explore your new surroundings by taking a walk or do some sight- seeing. This will make you familiar with your new surroundings and you will feel more at home. This will also give you an opportunity to bond with people. You’re only around for a few years, so now’s the time to make the most of it.

Ask for help

You find yourself in an unfamiliar environment with new people and new schedules. It’s important to remember to ask for help. If you have issues with your course or your accommodation, don’t hesitate to ask around.

If you’re feeling homesick, worrying about your studies or your finances will only make things worse, so take steps to sort any issues out or get support as soon as they arise.

Those around you are probably feeling the burn too and you might be able to help each other out.

Take care of your health

Eating healthy and exercising regularly can help you stay happy and motivated. This will help you take care of your physical and mental health. Keeping healthy will keep you feeling much more positive about life. Staying positive also makes you a pleasure to be around, so you’ll probably find it much easier to make new friends

Choose a hobby and allot time for it

It’s easy to get lost in your academic and social commitments but it’s important to allot time for yourself and for what makes you happy. Staying positive can be a lot easier said than done. But making a concerted effort to carry a positive attitude around with you will help you in a major way.

5 movies you should definitely watch with your Tribe

11 October 2021

Admin

Put on your PJs, bring out the popcorn, charge your laptops because it’s time to Netflix Party with your friends. We have made a list of movies for you so you don’t spend hours deciding on one.

The Trial of the Chicago 7

This movie is based on the infamous 1969 trial of seven defendants charged by the federal government with conspiracy and more, arising from the countercultural protests in Chicago at the 1968 Democratic National Convention. The trial transfixed the nation and sparked a conversation about mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. government.

My Octopus Teacher

Technically a documentary, a filmmaker forges an unusual friendship with an octopus living in a South African kelp forest, learning as the animal shares the mysteries of her world. The film was backed by the Sea Change Project, an NGO Foster co-founded to create awareness about the South African sea forest.

Foster tracks the octopus’ movements and shows viewers the octopus’s point of view of the world. The unlikely relationship between them is a man’s connection to nature and that’s what makes it a must watch.

Someone Great

Someone Great isn’t your typical rom-com but captures the road to self- discovery pretty accurately.  It’s a story of the protagonist realising there are so many layers to a relationship. The real emotional core of the film is the friendship between three friends, who are hilarious and bring a strong feminine energy to the movie.

“When something breaks, if the pieces are large enough, you can fix it. Unfortunately, sometimes things don’t break, they shatter. But when you let the light in, shattered glass will glitter.”

The Invention of Lying

This movie came out in 2009, written by Ricky Gervais is a remarkable radical comedy. It’s about an almost parallel universe where everyone always tells the truth and this man discovers that he can lie to get his way. It slowly slips in the implication that religion is possible only in a world that has the ability to lie but it eventually wraps into a sweet love story. This is a movie that should be on everybody’s watch list.

The Half of It

This high school romantic comedy is a refreshing change that includes the complexities of adolescence. The Half of It is finally a Netflix teen romance where the couple you’re rooting for isn’t straight. The dialogues seem so natural for awkward and inexperienced youngsters and is what makes it real.

5 inspiring books to change your perspective towards life

Loving What Is: The Four Questions That Can Change Your Life by Byron Katie

Byron Katie created a process called The Work that helps you see your problems in a different light. The Work is a process that involves writing down troubling thoughts and then asking four questions: (1) Is it true? (2) Can I absolutely know it is true? (3) How do I react when I think that thought? (4) Who would I be without the thought?

Mindset by Carol Dweck

In this brilliant book, world-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol S. Dweck, Ph.D., shows how success in school, work, sports, the arts, and almost every area of human endeavor can be dramatically influenced by how we think about our talents and abilities. People with a fixed mindset—those who believe that abilities are fixed—are less likely to flourish than those with a growth mindset—those who believe that abilities can be developed. This book will open the whole new world for your growth potential.

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

The book explodes the myth that you need to earn a high income to be rich and explains the difference between working for money and having your money work for you. It also explores the ways in which both men shaped his thoughts about money and investing. This book can completely change the way one thinks about money and creating wealth.

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

More influential people live a better life and build more meaningful businesses. Dale Carnegie’s principles endure, and will help you achieve your maximum potential in the complex and competitive modern age. This book teaches the six ways to make people like you, the twelve ways to win people to your way of thinking, and the nine ways to change people without arousing resentment.

Start With Why by Simon Sinek

Start With Why shows that the leaders who’ve had the greatest influence in the world all think, act, and communicate the same way — and it’s the opposite of what everyone else does. Sinek talks about a powerful idea called The Golden Circle, and it provides a framework upon which organizations can be built, movements can be led, and people can be inspired. And it all starts with WHY. Its a great book to help you design a purpose-driven life and business.

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl

Psychiatrist Viktor Frankl’s memoir has riveted generations of readers with its descriptions of life in Nazi death camps and its lessons for spiritual survival. Based on his own experience and the stories of his patients, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose. Only humans who have a purpose survive the longest. This book will make you stop complaining about the things that don’t matter.

This is a fun and different way of using cork boards. Simply cut the cork boards in circles and hang them above your desk. You can layer the cork boards with different colours that go with your room. This is perfect for hanging up reminders and to- do lists.

Please remember to exercise caution and take precautionary steps while cutting the cork boards.

Although this can be seen in almost every student’s room, it’s a great way to light up the room and to personalize your bedroom space. Use string lights to hang your pictures on your headboard and voila!
